3 Analysis of existing Horror Trailers Psychological: Insidious In the beginning there was use of close ups. Also different angles from low to high to show the expressions of the characters face. Establishing shots to show the outside and view of the house, this makes the audience feel welcomed into the scene. There were shots of the family before it turned the other way. "How far do changes to the regulation of media reflect broader social changes?" Regulation is about protection and control. In the United Kingdom an independent non-statutory body called the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) are the official regulators for film. Set up and run by the film industry. Some of the regulatory practices include, censorship, which is completely banning making it unavailable. Classification, where an age rating is enforced. Or cuts are made, to reduce the age rating or make it acceptable for some sort of viewing. Social changes have affected film regulation, by desensitisation. Over the past 30 years society have become less sensitive to things such as violence, sex and other forms of media that is considered harmful. 5 Paragraph Essay | Genre Theorists

In this essay, I will be discussing how the following genre theorists: Christian Metz, Rick Altman, Nicholas Abercrombie, Steve Neale & Daniel Chandler, are used in last year’s horror trailers. The trailer I will be talking about is The Collector, by the production group Jumpscare. Christian Metz, theorist for genre characteristics. He claims there are four stages to the genre of film: Experimental stage, classic stage, parody stage & deconstruction. The experimental stage is where the genre is being identified. Then it’s the classic stage, once the all the conventions have been set in the ground and have been identified as the genre.  After the classical stage, it’s the parody stage, this is where they start taking the genre and making it comedic, and, they tend to re-enact scenes from the classical stage.
